FAQs

1. How Do You Make Your Art?

I am an AI artist specialising in creating artwork featuring animals. Through the power of advanced AI algorithms and digital tools like Adobe Photoshop, I bring my artistic visions to life. Here's an overview of my artistic process:

1. Inspiration and Reference Gathering: To create a compelling piece of animal art, I start by seeking inspiration from various sources such as wildlife photography, nature documentaries, or even personal experiences.

2. Sketching and Composition: Using digital sketching tools, I begin by roughing out the basic shapes and forms of the piece. This stage helps me establish the overall composition and proportions. To create a compelling narrative and context for the animal(s), I often incorporate a suitable background or environment. This could be a natural habitat, a landscape, or an abstract setting that complements the subject or highlights a message.

3. AI-Based Rendering and Detailing: Once the rough sketch is completed and I know what the vision for the piece is, I employ cutting-edge AI algorithms to create the basic artwork. AI-powered tools, such as deep learning models, help me experiment with different artistic styles, textures, and colour palettes. This stage adds depth and visual interest to the artwork.

4. Digital Painting and Texturing: Using digital editing techniques, I then add more detail to the image, paying particular attention to lighting, shading, and highlighting, which are crucial to the overall effect. I often also need to correct errors in what the AI has produced, such as anatomical errors (although I leave in some anatomical errors that exhibit artist merit).

5. Final Touches and Presentation: As I near completion, I pay close attention to the overall aesthetics and visual impact of the artwork. I make any necessary adjustments to colours, contrast, and overall tonal balance. Finally, I prepare the artwork for its intended medium, whether it's for digital display, Giclée (fine art) printing, or other formats, ensuring its quality and integrity are maintained.

Throughout the artistic process, I strive to balance the unique creative abilities of AI with my own artistic intuition and vision. The combination of AI algorithms and digital tools like Photoshop empowers me to explore new possibilities, refine details, and create artwork that celebrates the beauty and diversity of animals in a captivating and engaging manner.

 2. What Are 'Fine Art Prints'?

To maintain the highest standards of quality, my artwork is professionally printed using the Giclée technique, onto handpicked (and sustainably sourced) fine art papers such as Hahnemühle German Etching, Hahnemühle Photorag, and Canson Baryta. These papers offer excellent texture, weight, and surface characteristics, enhancing the overall look and feel of the print.

My fine art (or Giclée) prints are produced in a professional printing lab using the latest technology and are created with longevity in mind. When displayed and stored under appropriate conditions, these prints can maintain their quality and vibrancy for an estimated archival life of 80 years or more, providing lasting enjoyment and value for years to come.

Animalia AI Giclée prints are released as limited editions, which means only a specific number of prints are ever produced for each of my pieces, and each print comes with a certificate of authenticity, verifying its origin, quality, and limited edition status.

3. What Are Single Edition Canvas Prints?

These single edition canvas prints offer an unparalleled level of exclusivity, as I will only be producing one premium canvass print of the artwork in this collection. The buyer has the choice to have their canvas printed and stretched in one of three sizes - 20 inches x 20 inches, 30 inches x 30 inches, and 40 inches x 40 inches. A certificate of authenticity is included.

My single edition premium canvasses are printed on Hahnemühle Cezanne canvas, a sustainable archival material, crafted from 100% premium cotton. With a weight of 430gsm, this canvas showcases an elegant and robust, finely woven surface texture. The canvas boasts a natural white shade, free from optical brighteners. Its premium matt coating ensures exceptional print results, delivering deep blacks, high contrast, and meticulous detail reproduction. This acid and lignin-free canvas exhibits remarkable age resistance with an estimated archival life of approximately 80 years, providing many years of enjoyment from the artwork.

4. How Will My Order Be Packed?

Your Giclée print(s) will be carefully covered with recyclable tissue paper, eliminating the danger of any scratches or folds, and then placed into a robust, 100% sustainably sourced, recyclable cardboard envelope or tube (depending on the size of the print). Framed prints and canvasses will also be protected with frame edge protectors before being placed in its box.

4. Will I Need to Pay Any Customs Duties For My Order?

All orders are printed either in the UK or in Germany (depending on the location of the customer). I can therefore guarantee customs-free delivery in the UK and the EU.

Customers who are not based in either the UK or the EU are responsible for any customs duties that might be chargeable by their country of residence.

6. What Is Your Refunds Policy?

I guarantee that your order will arrive in perfect condition and will match the specifications on this website. In the highly unlikely event that the artwork is defective or damaged, I will immediately send you a replacement. If you change your mind about your artwork, I will consider returns on a case-by-case basis, as the artwork is specifically produced for your order. This does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

7. What are Your Sustainability Credentials?

As a digital artist specialising in animals, I am committed to sustainability, as I believe we all have a responsibility to protect the environment and the animals within. That's why I have ensured that my printing and delivery process is end-to-end carbon neutral, based on the Gold Standard methodology recommended by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which involves investing in renewable energy projects rather forestry-based carbon offsetting.

Even though my printing & delivery is already end-to-end carbon neutral, for every order that I receive, I arrange for a tree to be planted through the World Land Trust's global reforestation campaign, "Plant a Tree". From time to time, you will notice that all the profits of some of my pieces are donated to charities involved in animal welfare and conservation.

I only use Giclée paper manufactures that use resources from sustainable and non-threatened forests. The frames that I use are made from FSC®-certified wood and from glass (not acrylic).

Unlike other canvas products that contain plastics, the premium canvas that I use is made from 100% cotton. My packaging is a combination of sustainably sourced, recyclable or biodegradable materials (including the stickers, tape, and frame edge protectors) and are 95% plastic-free.
